 Acorn Scheme

Horsham District council set up The Acorn recycling scheme in May 2003. The aim was to increase recycling in the Horsham area. The recycling rate rose from 13% to 47.73% in 2010/11 alone. we are all very proud that this is one of the biggest recycling rates in the UK. We take the green waste from over 50,000 households and recycle it into high quality compost. Our compost meets Soil Association certification and is suitable for all organic systems and adheres to the compost quality protocol and to PAS 100.

Horsham District Council

Running the Acorn scheme and Acorn Plus makes Horsham District Council one of the top performing recycling Councils in the Country. We play our part in this process by recycling all Horsham's kerbside collected green waste. We work closely with HDC to help maintain their success.
